About this married life...

My life for the last two years has been very enlightening. I'm married and thus had to stop thinking "me, me, me"and start thinking "us, us, us." And that can be easy at times and hard at other times. Marriage is a mirror. Your spouse will show you every thing in you that does not work for your marriage. If you tend to jump to conclusions too much, guess what? Your marriage will amplify that. If you are insecure, your marriage will amplify that too. So when you get married, enjoy your wedding and reception then after the honeymoon get ready to work.

When I got married, I did NOT know all of this. Honestly I didn't even have prep time. LOL. We discussed marriage and that it definitely was on the table for us. We were literally in an actual relationship/courtship for 2 WEEKS before we got married. What most people find out in the first year of courting (for worldly folk: dating) I found out during the course of my marriage. I had straight on the job training. LOL. Everything I learned about being married, I learned while being married. Thankfully I had paid attention to my mom and knew to continuously read. I didn't know what it was actually like to submit. I knew of the concept of submission in marriage but not the actual practice. Let me be real, I come from a family of straight INDEPENDENT women, women who actually feel they will not depend on a man, husband or not. So yes! I had major struggles in being comfortable depending on my husband and allowing him to take care of me in peace. And after two years I can actually say, I am comfortable being dependent on my husband. At first I used to get major backlash for not working and depending on my husband. BUT guess what I'd rather be dependent on my husband than anyone else. Chris Bush is the EPITOME of keeping his word. If Chris say he's going to do something, I can bet my last dollar he will do it.
I'm yet still working on the concept of submission in marriage. I'm still learning that submission goes further than my outwardly action, its a mental thing too. I have to know and be comfortable allowing my husband to have the final say IN PEACE. Not have the final say after I've complained and grumbled about it, but in peace meaning I accept his decision like I accepted his marriage proposal. I will not lie and say I am always like this. What I will say is that I am striving to be there. I'd like to think I've grown in that department but you'd have to ask Mr. Bush about that one.

Many times people on the outside see the united front and think "ah that's a piece of cake, I can't wait until I get married." Then they actually get married and realize how much work goes into being married. At one point, I was that girl. I thought it would be easy to be married. HA! I was SO wrong. It can be easy. But when you have pride and ego, it becomes a challenge to realize the bigger picture and that it is no longer just about you. I learned to actually ASK Chris rather than assume. Even more so, I've realized that my marriage takes work and that I do not and will not entertain even the thought of a divorce. So I roll up sleeves and self evaluate and put in work. I've also learned what being a wife is really about.

Being a wife is more than the ring, the bling, and the title. Doesn't matter who you marry, you will work. And if you don't, your marriage will suffer. Being a wife is about being your husband's HELP-MEET  What is a help-meet  It's the person who meets him to help, literally. As his wife you help in any way you can. If its cooking, then cook. If its making sure his clothes are clean and ironed, then wash and set up your ironing board. For me being my husband's help-meet is taking care of everything pertaining to our house and children. My husband likes to know his children are taken care of and his house is taken care of. He'll make sure the bills are paid. {His words, not mine}

The point is to figure out what works for you, your husband, and your marriage. It is cool to admire another's marriage but don't get caught up. I remember a time when we were going through and I looked at other marriages and thought if only Chris was like this or like that. Then I realized Chris will only be Chris and that's why I married him. Chris won't never ever be like the next man and I am so thankful for that. LBVS.

So you sure you ready for this married life?

Life Interrupted

This life we live is not really ours however we are given the freedom of choice to decide what we want to do with it anyways.
I'm sure by now you can tell that I am a follower of Christ. I am not perfect, I don't have it all together and I probably never will. I am OK with saying I am dependent on Jesus Christ.
His strength is made perfect in my weakness, and I am learning to be OK being weak at times, Jesus makes up for me.

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
 (2 Corinthians 12:9)

With Jesus we can have life abundantly. We can have forgiveness of our sins. But one thing I can guarantee you is that He will NOT leave you the same way you came to Him.
When you invite Jesus in your life and accept Him as your Lord and Savior, He will interfere with your life.
There WILL be some things in your life that He does NOT approve of and will make sure you know what they are. YOU then have the choice to either heed His warning and let Him mold you into the person He created you to be or continue to "march to the beat of your own drum."
Jesus always issued the command, follow me. It was never can you follow me, in a question form BUT follow me as a command.
When you follow Jesus you are doing as He says do, living the way HE and the Father has set forth. You are putting His good and perfect will above your own ambitions.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. (Matthew 16:24)
"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."
(Matthew 4:19)

When Jesus came upon the disabled, He changed them. Their faith in Him changed them.
You want better? Entrust your ALL in Him.
You want better? Put the Lord's kingdom and will before your own. Be all about God's desires THEN the Lord will grant you yours.

When you live WHOLEHEARTEDLY for Christ. Your life gets interrupted. When you say Lord give me Your desires so that I may want the things you want for me. You WILL change, what you want WILL change.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2)

^^^
This is how we are to live once we decide to follow Christ. We are to no longer live like the rest of the world. The outside can't change until the inside changes. You can't change your behavior until you change the way you think. When you are touched by Jesus, you WILL change. The way you think will change. The way you act will change. And the change will be genuine. You won't care what others say because you know it ONLY matters what the Lord says.

Love to you all,
Kris

Whoa, who are you?

May I ask who are you?

What would your response be? Would you tell me what you do for a living? Would you tell me the things you have acquired? Or would you simply state your name?

If you ask me who am I, my response would be Kris Bush, a servant of God. Yes I am a wife and mom, however outside of my family I am still Kris, a servant of God. And that's what everything boils down to. Do you or do you not serve Christ?

"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money." (Matthew 6:24)"So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth." (Revelations 3:16)

Never will you be able to serve the Lord and still play in this world, playing in Satan's playpen. It will always be either or. I personally used to be one of those people who abhorred ultimatums. And to a certain extent I still do however I've come to realize that with God, IT IS an ultimatum. You do have the option to serve God on Sunday and Wednesday then every other day serve Satan's purpose. At that point you are lukewarm and probably will not be taken seriously. People that behave as such, I refer to as pretenders.

Don't pretend with yourself because God knows the truth. He knows very well if you intend to serve him with your life or if you're just giving lip service. He knows very well if you are just attending church to say you went, or if you going to be fed & become a new creation in Christ. God knows this without you ever opening your mouth.

So take the time to read, so you know that HE searches the heart and determines all motives. Take the time to read and know that HE is a jealous God and will not tolerate you placing others before Him. Know that HE loves you! God loves you so very much. And that love is a parental love, one in which He will watch you make mistakes, he will send warning though. And God being the ultimate parent, he won't force you to obey and submit to Him, however He will still love you.

Remember the above verses and you seek out your dreams, seek out your careers. See to it that you place God above it ALL. Build a relationship with the Lord that will endure through the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The Lord be with you.

Marriage and Family

Wow, lately I noticed that I have not been blogging as much as I used to nor be on Facebook or Twitter. Well I've been busy. Our daughter started kindergarten yesterday and she's home-schooled. Our son has become a supreme busy body, LOL. He climbs on everything, gets into everything, and is majorly fussy, molars are cutting in & an ear infection which he should be done with by the end of this week. Yay, mommy can sleep! I'm still finishing up my B.A. online, roughly 10 classes left! Yay me! I'm also helping my husband with his classes as well, I want him to excel and succeed in school. I am still reading and studying, adding in reading and praying with our children every day so that they can get in the habit of spending time with God daily.
OK. So enough about us.

I really decided to blog because last night I got a text message from a friend of mine {we've been friends for about 10 years now} and in reading her text I realized she was going through a situation with her husband in which I had put my husband through. Putting family before our marriage. Which is easily one the easiest mistakes to make, especially if you do not read regularly and have a relationship with God. It was not until I started to really read my bible and praying to God daily that I realized that I could not and would no longer put anyone or anything {other than the Lord} before my marriage. I no longer ran to my mom when we would be having problems, I turned to God and laid my problems at His feet. And as I am reading the text from her, I am saddened because I have made my spouse feel the way she is feeling. So I gave her the best advice I could which was to turn him and the situation over to God because even if she can't reach him, God can.

That is one thing I want you to know. Your problems are only problems if you allow them to be. They can become stepping stones and/or messages for others. When it comes to your spouse, LISTEN and listen carefully. Even if you do not understand them, take the time to understand them and honor them. When you get married, your immediate family is your spouse and your children. Everyone else is secondary. Get your priorities in order. God is #1. After Him, comes your spouse then your children. Everything outside of that can fall in place however but usually your career/education is next on that list.

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. {Genesis 2:24 NIV}

^^^^^
It is this verse that lets us know how we are to treat our spouses. When you become one flesh, your care and love your spouse as you care for and love yourself. Your spouse is an extension of YOU. So if you are mistreating your spouse, you are actually mistreating yourself. Remember this during arguments. Remember this in every situation, especially those that affect your spouse.

For me its if Chris is unhappy, Kris is unhappy. If Chris is hurting by something I did, I am hurting too. So we are BOTH learning to let go of the past and push to make the future better. In the 2 years that I have been married, I have learned that no one is more important than them who reside in my house, God, Chris, Kaylee, and Caleb.

Don't worry, PRAY. Pray for yourself. Pray for your spouse. And entrust your marriage to GOD. Entrust your spouse to GOD. GOD made you and he/she so guess what? GOD knows exactly how to get your attention & theirs! He knows when you pull your coattails and slow you down. And best believe that GOD can do the same for your spouse, in HIS timing not yours.

Truth and Love

The truth is located in the bible. A beautifully written manual on life. There is a verse for every feeling, every situation. It's in the bible that we learn who God is. His likes and dislikes. We can learn how he wants to be worshiped, in truth and in spirit. Another thing we learn is to trust God. Trust God like Abraham trusted God. We learn to worship God like David worshiped God. We learn to be obedient like Jesus.

I've been reading the book of Psalm lately. And it has been so enlightening. You want a verse for comfort, Look to Psalm 18:2 (The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold). I love this verse, it lets my know that I can seek refuge in God, I can seek comfort in Him.
Be thankful for what you have been given in life. Ever hear people say that their portion is perfect? Well that's because they understand their portion is from God, and God doesn't make mistakes. Psalm 16:5 (Lord you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure) clearly outlines the fact that what we have, God gave. There is no mistake.

Don't worry that your portion doesn't look like the next person's portion. Don't worry when you read another person's blog/Facebook/Twitter. What God gave them, is for them. What God has for you, is perfect for you. You will never know what that person had to walk through to get what they have. Just like they will never know what you have been through.

God gave us this life so He can be glorified. This is completely evident by the praise and worship given to God throughout the book of Psalm. Psalm is also a great book to read when you need to strengthen your faith and trust in the Lord. Because it was MORE than clear that David literally trusted God WITH HIS LIFE. And if David can do it, so can we.

Don't give up. Strengthen your faith daily. Trust in God for ALL things, not some. Know that God searches the heart and the mind. He knows your motives, He knows your secrets. He's just waiting for you to trust Him with it all. Know that Jesus loves you, ALWAYS HAS, ALWAYS WILL.

Ideas!

Hi everyone I was thinking of starting to do LIVE video bible study. Some people can't always attend bible study at church. I for one cannot always because one, my pastor has not gotten here yet for us to even start bible study and two my husband works extremely long hours so our car is tied up.

So I decided to start a online bible study one that will edify people and allow for input. I plan to email out study guides to make it easier to follow along. As well as take suggestions for each week's study or even if someone else wants to host the study.

Give me your thoughts and input.
If you prefer to email instead of comment on here. Please do email sheischosen@gmail.com

Feelings and Marriage.

Marriage is this beautiful covenant between a man and a woman taken before God. It's a covenant with God as the rope that binds together. However some people don't realize these truths. When you get married, you give up your selfishness. Marriage makes you serve, your spouse. Marriage makes you put someone else first. Now don't think that I've got the perfect marriage, because I DON'T. I'm learning as I go along and sharing what I've learned along the way.

I've been that person, the one that thought that I could allow my feelings to lead me through life. That I could depend on my feelings. However I had to learn that my feelings kept me in some miserable situations because I thought I was in love. It was when I told my feelings to shove it, that I started to become a better person and to want better. It was when I told my feelings to shove it and I moved on, that God literally brought me to my husband's attention. And yes I have told my feelings to shove it during my marriage. You heart, via your feelings, will have you thinking that your spouse is being mean or cruel when you could just be offended. Your heart, via your feelings, will make you think you're unhappy because you didn't get your way.

Oh and whoever told people to trust their emotions when making decisions, LIED. Do NOT trust your feelings when making decisions. Make your decisions after going to God and letting Him guide you.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? (Jeremiah 17:9)

And one thing we need to do is guard our hearts. The bible don't tell us that for nothing. When you guard your heart, you're keeping it from being corrupted and keep it from being tainted. The above verse tells us why we need to guard our hearts and also why we cannot trust our feelings. When the heart is tainted and deceiving, how would we know because our feelings would have us thinking we're right? You wouldn't so don't trust your feelings, make decisions based on what God says, pray and ask Him for further assistance. You can even seek godly counsel, people who are mature in faith than you.

One thing I have learned is that for a marriage to truly work, both members need to come to a decision to consistently work at the marriage and to not always deal in their emotions. You cannot let your 'feelings' dictate how you approach anything or deal with your issues because your feelings come from your heart and your heart is deceitful above all things (Jeremiah 17:9). And since we now know this, we must acknowledge this. Your heart cannot be trusted to make decisions for you, God is who you trust when making decisions.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5)

This verse tells us that we cannot lean unto our own heart or our own understanding but to trust in the Lord with our heart and to lean unto HIS understanding. This verse applies in marriage as well. It is when you realize that you do not have all the answers and when you realize that you need God in your marriage that you will begin to really gain the help you need. Even if you think that you don't need help, still acknowledge God for all the good in your marriage as well.

Pray together, read together, worship together. These three actions done together will help strengthen your marriage to weather any storm that comes. You will need to firmly root your marriage in God. I may not have the perfect marriage or the perfect husband, however I do know that I have a marriage rooted in Christ. And that is what matters, what will pull us through anything.
